2 years ago my work called a project “Batty”. I put my self on the line and raised this as an issue to management. Of the managers involved one understood immediately and apologised. The others needed a small education.

The project changed name overnight without any fuss and “Batty” is not used by anyone.

It is sad that it is still a term of abuse a homophobia. And that being gay in some countries will cost your life
